Summer Work Germany program is a program similar to the Summer work travel program in the United States for university students, but with some differences. With the Summer Work Germany program, university students can legally work in Germany for up to 90 days during the summer holidays.
Application requirements for Summer Work Germany
1-Being University Student
You must be a bachelor university student at a university that offers formal education and is recognized by the German government.
2-Able to speak German or English
You need to have at least A2 level German or English. SWG counselors will decide by an interview.
3-Able to work at least 60 days of summer vacation
You can stay in Germany for a maximum of 90 days. There must be 90 days between the closing and opening dates of your school. You need to be able to work at least 60 days
4-Able to work without any health problem
The applicant must not have a health problem or physical disability that will prevent them from working.
5-No criminal record
Students with a criminal record are not accepted for the program.
What kind of SWG jobs are available in Germany?
Within the program, you can work in any seasonal job that does not require professionalism or certification. Your language skills or work experience will determine what kind of job you will be placed in. Our students are usually placed in the following jobs;

Summer Work Germany Application Fee
Pre-registration fee: You must complete your pre-registration to be added to the candidate pool.
Program Fee: When the candidate receives acceptance from the employer and the employment contract is sent, his/her participation in the program is finalized. The student whose participation in the program is finalized pays the program fee after the employment contract is received.

What are the Other Expenses in SWG Program?
Visa application costs: Applicants requiring a visa to travel to Germany will incur a fee of 75 Euros for visa application advice and travel health insurance required for the application.
Visa Application Fee: 90 Eur. This fee is payable in cash at the time of visa application.Airfare Average cost is 100 Eur. You can buy the plane ticket when your departure date to Germany becomes clear.
Allowance: Min. 500 Eur, you may have to pay an accommodation deposit or any extra payment when you arrive in Germany. For this reason, you should definitely bring pocket money with you.
Accommodation fee: You can pay for your accommodation in Germany from your salary. Accommodation costs vary depending on the location and range between 400-600 Eur per month.
How much do I earn at SWG program in Germany?
The minimum hourly wage in Germany in 2023 is 12 Eur. With Summer Work Germany, our students receive min. 13 euros per hour. Students with German language skills of B1 and above usually receive a higher hourly wage. In Germany, salaries are calculated based on the number of hours worked per month. Under the SWG program, students work 150 hours or more per month. It is up to the student to work more than 40 hours per week, but they can work more if needed. In the summer of 2022, we have calculated the average monthly hours worked by students to be 173, which at 13 Euros per hour is 2249 Euros. Your monthly earnings may be above or below this figure.
Are taxes deducted from my salary?
Yes, as you are working legally, the relevant taxes are deducted from your salary and your net salary is credited to your account. The amount of tax deducted from your salary varies according to each state, but on a net salary of 2250 Eur, the average tax deduction is around 250-300 Eur.
Can I get a tax refund?
Yes, you can get back the taxes deducted from your salary by applying after one year. We were able to get up to 750 Eur back for our students who participated in the SWG program. G Path provides consultancy services for your tax refund applications. Click the link below to apply.
Summer Work Germany Accommodation
We help students who do not have accommodation within the Summer Wrok Germany program to arrange accommodation. Accommodation costs are the responsibility of the student and are paid from his/her salary. Accommodation for SWG students is usually in shared student houses called WGs. Accommodation costs vary depending on the city or how many people you share your room with, but the average is around 500 Eur per month.
Summer Work Germany Başvuru
The dates of participation in the Program are June-October. After you apply for the program, the operation time until you receive your visa takes 3 to 4 months. Employers in Germany close recruitment in April. Considering these periods, the latest date you can apply is March. However, the later you apply, the less chance you have of getting a job in Germany. For this reason, we recommend that you start your program application process in August – October, which is the early application period.
